Georgetown has other sports, but none compare in popularity to the men's basketball team, so home games are always packed with supporters. The 1980s may be considered the golden years for the Georgetown Hoyas, but the team has recently experienced a resurgence. They are once again favorites to stand atop the Big East.
The 1980s were the best time to get NCAA basketball tickets to see the Georgetown Hoyas. Patrick Ewing led the team to the finals twice, winning the national championship in 1984. Other famous NBA centers have played in Georgetown, such as Dikembe Mutombo and Alonzo Mourning. Allen Iverson was a first overall pick in the 1996 NBA draft. In 2006, the Hoyas reached the Sweet Sixteen in the NCAA Tournament. In the 07 Tourney they went to the Final Four for the first time since 1985.
Georgetown Hoyas Basketball tickets are the hottest tickets on campus. The Hoyas play their home games at the Verizon Center. The arena has a huge capacity, but games often sell out, so getting tickets to see this storied basketball program in action can sometimes be very difficult. Coach John Thompson III has rebuilt the Hoyas into a national powerhouse. When the next season rolls around, you have to check out a couple of games.
